The Reggie White Sportsmanship Award:
This award truly embodies the spirit of what we are trying to build within the Long Island Youth Indoor Football League.
George Scheld has worked with the widow of former NFL great, Reggie White, Mrs. Sara White, to create a plaque in Reggie's honor, which, from this point forward, will be known as the Reggie White Sportsmanship Award. There will be one recipient, per season, of this award.
In addition to being one of the greatest football players in history, Reggie White was a giant among men off of the field. His ministry, and work with the youth in his community, are powerful examples of what our League is all about. The recipients will get a copy of a letter from Ms. Sara White, in addition to the plaque which reads:
To the youth athlete that best exhibits
the gracious qualities of true sportsmanship
before, during, and after competition.
